RESCUED
Mission Statement
To support the cause of the American Red Cross by bringing life to the stories that other people have experienced through the bands song. They find these stories of natural disaster victims powerful, and they want other people to feel the same way.
Non-Profit Biography
The American Red Cross is mostly known for their work in disaster situations. There is more to the red cross however. They also teach life saving courses to those of the community. Many lifeguards get their training from the red cross; as well as citizens can learn CPR, and many other courses are provided. Another not commonly known thing that you can do through the red cross is give blood. On the other hand, the American Red Cross is most widely known for its volunteering. These members of the community help when needed, and bring back powerful stories from the places they go. The American Red Cross has a mission to help prevent and take care of human suffering in the face of emergencies through volunteers and donors.
Band Member Biographies
Jamie Graywolf: Jamie is a junior in high school, and enjoys science as well as photography. She however decided to go with her strengths in making a website, and therefore joined the marketing committee. She put time and effort into the website making sure everything looked presentable. In her band she started off playing the guitar, but then that plan failed. After careful consideration Jamie decided it was best for her band to use electronic music, and as a result had to re-record the singing (previously talking) part. Overall, she faced many new challenges that she wouldn’t have without this project.

Samantha Schaefer: Samantha is an aspiring filmmaker from Fossil Ridge High School. She loves everything about the arts. Whether it be the art of film-making, songwriting, photography, or drawing, which is a hobby of her’s. Because of this hobby, she has decided to try the art committee. In the committee, her main job was to take photos of all the talented bands in Tim Hanauer’s class. Samantha’s musical experience before this class was little. She played the flute in middle school and sang choir freshman year. Other than this, she knows nothing about music. Her main role in the band was writing lyrics to help contribute to the overall song. Overall, she has decided that songwriting isn’t for her, but it was a fun and challenging experience.
Lindsey Harvey: Lindsey is a junior in high school and she enjoys working as a lifeguard at the Town of Windsor. She has a personal connection with the Red Cross and through them she has been able to feel confident in the saving someone’s life if it is needed. Lindsey has been a lifeguard for almost a year and she plans to continue to strive in comfort knowing the Red Cross will always be there to help improve her life-guarding skills. Some other activities that Lindsey enjoys is listening to music and drinking coffee (preferably americanos). By being assigned this English assignment Lindsey was able to use her skills of communication as well as being challenged with writing a song. She enjoyed being able to receive help from her band members and together they were able to complete the assignment and feel more confident in the outcome.
Quotes From The Band
“At the beginning of the year I wasn’t expecting to do this type of project. The process was an interesting one to say the least, but in the end we gained new experiences from making the final mix.” -Jamie Graywolf

“To become any kind of writer, you need to try every type of writing at least once. And this class gave me the entire songwriting experience, helping me grow in my skills even more.”
~ Samantha Schaefer
Final Song: HOPE Has A Way
Verse 1
Over there, yeah over there
This doesn’t seem that rare
Raining soft, raining hushed
This day doesn’t seemed that rushed

Verse 2
Driving now, yeah driving now
Holy cow
It’s coming down
Oh but on this day you can not frown

Chorus
HOPE, HOPE has a way
A way of talkin’
A way of walkin’
A way of making everything okay

Spoken: Hope. Hope. Get inside. Grab your sister. We need to go before the floods get to bad.

Verse 3
My father’s guitar
Gotta get it in the car
Jen, do not fret
make sure there’s nothing we forget

Verse 4
Why? Why must I cry?
I don’t wanna die
My sister and I are on a ride
Is this goodbye?

Chorus
Verse 5
Help! Help! We need help!
All I can do is yelp
A boat, a car
They don’t seem that far

Verse 6
A saving boat
A saving hope
Coming across
It’s the Red Cross
Coming to save the day

Chorus
Okay; Okay
